Can I search with the new Custom Field just added ?

Yes, you need to enable this field to be shown on browse form and then you can do an advanced search on this field

Can we create Custom Fields with variable length?

Yes, you can by choosing the right datatype. For example, we can choose a Text10 data type to store text information of 10 characters or choose a Text5000 data type to store text information of 5000 characters

Do we need to upgrade the framework version to get this feature or can it be ported to previous versions?

OB Lite is available starting Framework March Release 2020 (4.20.3.1). Even though it’s an independent piece of software, there are efforts to back merge this and port it to an older Framework version. Please reach out to Framework.Support@odessainc.com for more information.
